SHIBUYA SKY offers breathtaking panoramic views and a wonderful sense of openness, with its rooftop observation area, SKY STAGE, and the indoor observation gallery, SKY GALLERY, on the 46th floor.

SHIBUYA SKY is extremely popular and often crowded, so we recommend buying tickets online in advance.

The open-air atmosphere at SHIBUYA SKY is wonderful during the day, but
the views at twilight (the magic hour) and the glittering nighttime skyline are even more spectacular—and especially popular!

Unfortunately, tickets for sunset and evening hours often sell out, making it difficult to visit at those times. Regular online tickets are sold up to two weeks in advance. First, check availability on the official website.

We checked ticket availability on the official SHIBUYA SKY website.

Entry from 15:00 onward was almost completely sold out.

The few remaining slots marked △ were so late that catching the sunset seemed unlikely.

So we checked availability for tickets with entry by 14:59.
There were many more dates with available tickets.

However, most available entry slots were in the morning or no later than around 13:00.

To catch the sunset, you would need to spend quite a few hours inside SHIBUYA SKY.

* Although your SHIBUYA SKY entry time is specified, there is no fixed exit time or limit on your stay. You can remain until closing.

But you’ve come all the way to Shibuya, and you really want to see the sunset or night views from SHIBUYA SKY!

With this combo ticket, however, you can enter after getting off SHIBUYA STREET RIDE,
up until the final admission time on the same day, without reserving a specific entry time.It cannot be used before your bus ride or on the following day.

Final admission is usually at 21:20, and closing time is 22:30.

From Reservation to Admission

① Hassha Orai Net, select your travel date, departure point, and bus service, then choose the “SHIBUYA SKY Combo Ticket” plan and pay in advance.

② Board your reserved bus and receive your SHIBUYA SKY admission voucher when boarding.You cannot collect the voucher without taking the bus.

③ After your bus ride, before the final admission time that day, go to the same-day ticket counter on the 14th floor of Shibuya Scramble Square and hand your voucher to the staff. Allow enough time for travel and admission procedures.

* Combo tickets cannot be booked by phone, at a ticket counter, or on the bus.
* You cannot change a regular bus ticket to a combo ticket after payment.
* Visitors booking from overseas can also use the official multilingual guide, available in English, Chinese, and Korean.

SHIBUYA STREET RIDE | Operating Days, Timetable, and Boarding Locations

SHIBUYA STREET RIDE is an open-top sightseeing bus operated by Tokyu Bus. It offers four routes: a Shibuya sightseeing loop, Shibuya to Shinjuku, Shinjuku to Shibuya, and a nighttime Metropolitan Expressway drive. The SHIBUYA SKY Combo Ticket is offered on the Shibuya loop, Shinjuku → Shibuya, and Shibuya → Shinjuku routes.

These sightseeing routes let you enjoy the city from the bus. You cannot get off along the way.

The bus has an open-air upper deck, offering a unique elevated view of the city.

Seats are equipped with multilingual audio guides and onboard monitors that introduce the areas along the route. Japanese is also supported.

A digital walking guide is also included, so you can continue exploring Shibuya after the ride.

Buses generally operate Wednesday through Sunday and on public holidays. There is no service on regular Mondays or Tuesdays. Check the official operating calendar for departures on your chosen date.

Daytime routes generally take around 50–60 minutes, while the nighttime Metropolitan Expressway drive takes approximately 70 minutes according to the official multilingual timetable. Allow extra time for possible delays or cancellations due to road conditions. If you take the Shibuya → Shinjuku route, you will need to arrange transportation back to Shibuya to visit SHIBUYA SKY afterward.

Which Bus Should You Choose to See the Sunset?

In autumn and winter, the sun sets earlier, so you may miss the sunset if you take the Shibuya loop departing at 16:45.If you want to enjoy the sunset, we recommend considering the Shibuya loop departing at 10:50. This gives you time for a daytime bus tour, lunch, and a walk around Shibuya before heading to the observation deck.

My Experience Riding SHIBUYA STREET RIDE

The following account is based on a ride and visit in 2024.

I went ahead and booked the SHIBUYA STREET RIDE and SHIBUYA SKY combo ticket online。
. This time, I took the Shibuya sightseeing loop.

First, I headed to the bus terminal on the first floor of Shibuya Fukuras, near the south exit of Shibuya Station.

I arrived well before departure and waited in the waiting room opposite the boarding area.

The open-top bus pulled into the terminal before departure.
I showed the staff my smartphone screen and hopped aboard!

That’s when I received my same-day SHIBUYA SKY admission voucher.

Now I could look forward to the sunset and night views from SHIBUYA SKY! 🌇

Our route took us around Shibuya, including Scramble Crossing, Harajuku, and Omotesando.

The colorful seats inside the bus are perfect for Instagram-worthy photos!

One of the most exciting parts of the ride is the thrill of passing just beneath elevated bridges—an experience unique to this bus!

The bus departed Shibuya Fukuras and headed toward Harajuku along Meiji-dori Avenue.
Along the way, we saw Meiji Jingu Shrine and Takeshita Street from a slightly elevated viewpoint.

We then continued toward Sendagaya and Gaienmae.
We passed the Japan National Stadium, the main venue for the Olympics, on our way to Omotesando. With no overhead wires, the open sky felt wonderfully refreshing!

In Omotesando, we passed close to the street trees and enjoyed views of the luxury fashion boutiques.

Finally, we returned to Shibuya and looked down at Scramble Crossing. Watching the crowds crossing from above felt like a special treat.

After the loop, we returned to the bus terminal on the first floor of Shibuya Fukuras, where we started.

After a leisurely lunch, I used the digital walking guide advertised in the seat pocket and headed out to explore Shibuya!

Don’t forget to check the access code while you’re on the bus!
The guide also has audio, so earphones are recommended.

Of course, in the evening it was time for SHIBUYA SKY at Shibuya Scramble Square.
