Kawaguchiko, a town at the foot of Mt. Fuji, is hugely popular with foreign tourists. It’s easy to reach Kawaguchiko Station by highway bus from Shinjuku, with frequent departures throughout the day.
In the morning, buses leave Busta Shinjuku at roughly 10-minute intervals.
But the real challenge begins once you arrive at Kawaguchiko Station.
Arakurayama Sengen Park, famous for its view of the red Chureito Pagoda with Mt. Fuji, and the Mt. Fuji Panorama Ropeway are both fairly easy to reach.
But Oishi Park — a popular spot where you can enjoy seasonal flowers and scenery against the backdrop of Mt. Fuji — is a bit trickier to get to.
Now there’s a new way to reach Oishi Park.
By boat.
How to Get from Kawaguchiko Station to Oishi Park
There are three main ways to get from Kawaguchiko Station to Oishi Park.
1. Take the local bus
Take the “Kawaguchiko Sightseeing Bus (Omnibus)” from Kawaguchiko Station and get off at the Oishi Koen bus stop.
2. Rent a bicycle
Rent a bike from a shop in front of Kawaguchiko Station and ride the lakeside cycling road to Oishi Park.
It’s about 6.5km from Kawaguchiko Station to Oishi Park, roughly a 30-minute ride.
