How to enjoy "Hakuba", famous for its powder snow.

Hakuba is well known for "Japow" by foreigners. "Japow" is coined from the words "Japan" and "powder snow". Hakuba in particular is famous for its high quality snow and attracts many skiers and snowboarders from around the world. Every year many visitors from around the world come to visit Hakuba specifically for this powdered snow.


For those interested, the best way to enjoy Hakuba is by taking an overnight bus!

Taking the express bus allows you to travel hassle-free without the need for transfers or carrying your luggage around. If you depart from Shinjuku Expressway Terminal at 11:05PM, there will be two rest stops before you arrive at Hakuba at 6:15AM. The best part of Hakuba is its easy accessibility! Once you arrive at Hakuba, there are free shuttles from all over to take you to each ski resort. JR Hakuba Station is only about a 2-3 minute walk from Hakuba bus stop. There is also a shuttle bus in front of the train station.


Hakuba has all you want from advanced level ski resorts to family friendly snow parks.

Hakuba is known for its advanced level ski resorts, but there's plenty to do for everyone. Along with challenging runs, you'll find easy courses for beginners, off-piste areas where you can ski off course, and fun snow parks where kids can play in the snow. There are also skiing and snow boarding lessons conducted in English and other languages.


Enjoy a night in Hakuba at "Echoland", filled with restaurants and bars.

After a day on the slopes, experience Hakuba's vibrant nightlife in "Echoland"! This bustling street is filled with cozy restaurants and bars, and at night, the streetlights reflecting off the snow creates a magical ambiance.


Hakuba in the summer is also recommended! Enjoy Hakuba's luscious green season.

There are many recommended spots to go to during Hakuba's green season. Enjoy hiking after going up the ski gondola or enjoy a view of the gorgeous Japanese Alps from one of the cafes. Tsugaike Kogen is located next to Hakuba and has beautiful nature and a park.
There are a several highway buses running between Shinjuku and Tsugaike Kogen.
